In standard radial bearings, only 3 or 4 balls make contact during the load, at any given time. In Angular Contact (A/C) bearings, ALL balls are engaged and spread the force over a larger surface area, to decrease friction and minimize wear.
Stainless steel provides maximum corrosion resistance in applications and environments where critical. It has 20% less load capacity than the 52100 chromium steel, used in most Enduro Bearings, but with far superior corrosion resistance.
NOTE: These bearings are directional. Always install with the ORANGE/RED seal facing out, and "load" the inner race!
These Angular Contact bearings are specifically designed for hubs that have a preload feature (and certain bottom bracket applications). In standard radial bearings, only 3 or 4 balls make contact during the load, at any given time.
But in these A/C bearings, ALL balls are engaged and spread the force over a larger surface area, which decreases friction, and minimizes wear.
