US Duties and Tariff Guide

Orders Under $800 USD

As of August 29, 2025, the U.S. suspended the De Minimis exemption for commercial shipments from all countries. Orders valued at $800 USD or less are no longer automatically duty-free and may be subject to applicable import duties, tariffs, fees, and customs processing.

The amount owing depends on factors including the product's HTS classification, country of origin, material composition, and eligibility for preferential tariff treatment such as CUSMA/USMCA.

Any duties that we are required to collect must be paid before we can ship your order. We are actively working to make this process as seamless as possible for our U.S. customers. At this time, if additional duties are required, we will contact you after your order is placed.

Aluminum and Steel Tariffs

Certain steel and aluminum products and derivative products may be subject to additional tariffs under Section 232. Covered products may be subject to tariffs of up to 50%.

Section 232 does not automatically apply simply because a product contains steel or aluminum. Whether the tariff applies depends on the product's HTS classification and whether that classification is included under the applicable Section 232 rules. In some cases, the tariff may apply only to the value of the steel or aluminum content rather than the full value of the product.

Because many bicycle products contain a combination of aluminum, steel, carbon fibre, plastics, and other materials, Section 232 treatment can vary from product to product.

Made In China

Certain products manufactured in China are subject to additional tariffs under Section 301. Many affected products are subject to an additional 25% duty, although the exact rate depends on the product's HTS classification and any applicable exclusions.

Products manufactured in Taiwan or other countries are not subject to the China Section 301 tariff solely because of their country of origin. Other duties and tariffs may still apply.

Made In Canada

Products that originate in Canada and meet the applicable CUSMA/USMCA rules of origin may qualify for preferential tariff treatment when imported into the United States. This can reduce or eliminate the standard MFN duty.

Eligibility is based on the product's actual origin and applicable rules of origin, not simply the country it is shipped from.

Other product-specific tariffs may still apply. For example, certain Canadian-origin steel or aluminum products may still be subject to Section 232 tariffs where applicable.

Tariff & Duties Category Guide

The information below is intended as a general guide for common products sold by The Inside Line. Exact HTS classifications and duty rates can vary depending on a product's construction, materials, function, value, and country of origin. U.S. Customs and Border Protection ultimately determines the applicable classification and duties.

Section 232 tariffs do not automatically apply simply because a product contains aluminum or steel. Products of Chinese origin may also be subject to additional Section 301 duties depending on their HTS classification.
